The SCSI’s annual conference for geomatic and land surveyors, Survey Ireland 2017 was held last week on Wednesday, 31st May at The Grand Hotel, Malahide. The Society is delighted to note that the event is more popular than ever with an increase on last years attendance with over 140 delegates present on the day.
The many exhibitors at this years conference showcased the latest products and technology on the market. Amongst the exhibitors was the OSI, feature Sponsor of the event, and Murphy Surveys. Aside from learning of the latest technology, competitions were held at the stand, one in particular ran by Murphy Surveys who gave delegates the opportunity to win a drone. Eoin Whelan was later delighted to be announced the winner of the competition.
This years conference was divided up into three themes to examine how the profession has embraced new technologies to keep up with the changing nature of the profession. Speakers on the day included: Colin Bray, Conor Cahalane, Niamh O’Reilly, Liam Meagher, Geoff Bell, Liam Farrelly, Peter Kinghan, Koen Verbruggen, Michael Durnin, Kevin Mooney, Conor Galvin, Hugh Mangan and Simon Navin.
