The SCSI also launched the Strategic Plan at all Regional AGMs that took place across the country, starting first in Carlow, followed by Cork, Navan and Galway.
Immediate Past President Andrew Nugent was in attendance to thank the membership for their volunteerism and to discuss the various projects that were embarked on in the past year, while Patricia Byron, Director General discussed the Society’s mission, vision and values from the Strategic Plan.
The Southern Region, which took place in the Imperial Hotel in Cork on the 26th of April saw the election of a new Chair. Michael Mooring was appointed to the role, taking over from Peter O’Flynn whose significant contribution was noted by Michael in his address to the members.
Another region to see a new Chair was the Western Region with the appointment of Pat Carter in the Connaught Hotel on the 6th of May in Galway. Pat follows on from Patricia Staunton for the 2016 – 2017 term and noted in his acceptance his gratitude for the support from members and his plans for the coming year.
The South Eastern Region AGM was held in Carlow Institute of Technology and Karol Jackson remains at the helm for a second year. In the North East Region, Shane O’Hanlon will also continue to chair the committee. We welcome all members to participate in the excellent work of the Regional Committees, particularly to help with event organisation.
