Following the departure of Ciara Murphy from her position as Director General of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, the SCSI Board of Directors has appointed Seamus Feely as Acting Director General of the Society pending the appointment of a permanent successor to Ciara Murphy. Seamus has a wide range of experience from working in a number of senior roles in both the private and public sectors. He was Secretary General of the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) for over ten years up to June 2013. Prior to this, he held a number of roles in the public sector including Accountant General and Head of Corporate Affairs with the Revenue Commissioners. More recently, Seamus has been involved in a number of voluntary and consultancy projects.
Seamus looks forward to working with the Board, Council, Professional Group Committees, staff and members of the Society in the interim period. The recruitment process is ongoing to appoint a permanent successor to Ciara Murphy. The Past Presidents Annual Dinner took place earlier in November at which the President, Pauline Daly took the opportunity to express appreciation on behalf of the SCSI membership to Ciara for her able leadership of the SCSI over the past 7 years. She also paid great tribute to Ciara for all her efforts in bringing the Society to its very successful position in the property and construction sector today.
